NAS: The Politics of Identity First Meeting of Fall 2014!

Native American Studies: The Politics of Identity

Townsend Center for the Humanities Working Group

Welcome to new and returning members of the Native American Studies: The Politcs of Identity Working Group! We are so excited for another productive year of discussion and engagement with students, staff, faculty, and community members across campus and the local Bay Area. The working group had an exciting first year and we look forward to building on what was started last year.

Our intended discussions this year will engage three very broad areas of study*:

1. Native Americans as represented in Federal Indian law and policy

2. Native Americans as represented in popular culture

3. Native Americans as represented in literature

*These are guiding topics for the group, but other ideas and points of view are welcome at all meetings.
