Transnational & Ethnic American Studies

The Transnational & Ethnic American Studies working group (TEASWG) fosters interdisciplinary conversation about transnational, postcolonial, and decolonial methods of scholarly inquiry. The working group provides a forum for addressing American literatures in the wider context of empire and globalization, but it is also committed to examining the comparative significance of cross-cultural production, border-thinking, indigeneity, alterity, material culture, race, and ethnicity.

The group meets regularly to engage critical and theoretical texts through group discussion. Moreover, the group often sponsors a variety of talks by prestigious scholars in the field and co-sponsors several interdisciplinary events throughout the year.
