Comparative (Counter-) Romanticisms

Fostering interdisciplinary discussions among graduate students and faculty who study the period we think of as Romanticism.

The Comparative (Counter-) Romanticisms working group seeks to foster sustained interdisciplinary discussions among graduate students and faculty who study the constellation of materials that constitute and challenge formulations of the period we think of as Romanticism. The group examines the period with an eye to reconsidering its primary investments and geographies as well as its prefigurations and afterlives. Topics of investigation include: ecology, imperialism, and materiality.
