Xavier Dolan's Lawrence Anyways (2012).

Xavier Dolan is an up and coming young Canadian director, who is known most recently for his film Mommy (2014) which won the July Prize at Cannes Film Festival (jointly with Jean-Luc Godard's Adieu au langage (2014)). Lawrence Anyways is Dolan's third film, the coming out story of a young transgender woman named Laurence. After having formerly lived as a man, Laurence reveals her true transgender identity to her lover, Frédérique.

The newly created French and Francophone Film Working Group cordially invites you to our first cinéclub meeting, on Thursday, September 11th at 6 pm in the French Library, Dwinelle 4229.

We will be watching several short films by Marguerite DURAS, all made in 1979, including: 

Césarée, Les mains négatives, Aurélia Steiner (Melbourne), and Aurélia Steiner (Vancouver).
